Although The Beginning was founded in 2011, its roots go back much further, to the early 90s, when the founders Sandra and Vítor were working in the UK in addiction and behavioural treatment centres.
Over the following years, they gathered knowledge about these issues and examined the best approaches for each case and the priorities of a treatment centre.
They quickly realised that the dynamics and cohesion of all the teams involved in the treatment process and the patient’s stay were fundamental, as well as their own philosophy, which would lead patients to collaborate in creating an environment of change and recovery, which is essential for their progress and preparation for a healthy future.
However, the creation of teams with the required characteristics led to the decision that, whenever possible, technicians with the desired profile should be trained so that they could adapt more easily to the company’s philosophy and to this very specific area.
This commitment to permanently investing in its staff and facilities, as well as in adding therapies that have been proven to help our patients achieve their goals, led to a rising demand for its services and, since then, counts on two primary care centres and a Half-Way house.
Today, in addition to conventional therapies, usually individual and in group, The Beginning’s clinics are among those that offer the most differentiated therapies to their patients worldwide.
The area of health to which we dedicate ourselves is so specific that it affects not only the patients themselves but also those with whom they live. That’s why, since our inception, we’ve been bringing patients’ families closer to the treatment, as they are often a fundamental part of it and they too need all the help and knowledge they can get to better overcome all the negativity that this illness has brought with it, as well as to prepare for a healthier and more harmonious future. To help in this process, we have included a therapeutic and informative programme aimed exclusively at family and friends.
The company, which started with four employees, now has more than forty direct employees and numerous external collaborators, and is preparing to start a new residential unit in 2024 with a significant increase in technicians and therapies.
The respect and the desire to help each of our patients to overcome their difficulties will always be present, and this is only possible with highly motivated, competent and dedicated teams.
This sustained growth would not be possible or necessary if the demand for our services was not also sustained by an ever-increasing demand from national and foreign clients who contact us, referred by former patients, doctors or their families.
